Press release from the City of Charleston: October 30, 2020 The City of Charleston Public Works Department today announced changes to the holiday refuse schedule. Normally trash collection is scheduled for Saturday during holiday weeks. This year, collection will take place on Mondays during holiday weeks. "This change in the refuse schedule will allow our workers to spend more quality time with their families during the holiday season," said Brent Webster, Director of Public Works. "We are hopeful that this will also be better for residents throughout the City." The refuse schedules for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day are below: Thanksgiving Week 2020 Monday, November 23 – regular Tuesday trash pickup Tuesday, November 24 – regular Wednesday trash pickup Wednesday, November 25 – regular Thursday trash pickup Thursday, November 26 – no trash pickup in observance of Thanksgiving holiday Friday, November 27 – regular Friday trash pickup Christmas Week 2020 Monday, December 21 – regular Tuesday trash pickup Tuesday, December 22 – regular Wednesday trash pickup Wednesday, December 23 – regular Thursday trash pickup Thursday, December 24 – regular Friday trash pickup Friday, December 25– no trash pickup in observance of Christmas holiday New Year's Week 2020 Monday, December 28 – regular Tuesday trash pickup Tuesday, December 29 – regular Wednesday trash pickup Wednesday, December 30 – regular Thursday trash pickup Thursday, December 31 – regular Friday trash pickup Friday, January 1 – no trash pickup in observance of New Year's Day holiday Trash collection will run its normal schedule for all other holidays in 2020.
