DALE CITY, VA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories. This submission comes from Terry O'Connor, a family member who nominated Idris O'Connor of Dale City. Idris is chairperson of the Cooperative Council of Ministries, a coalition of churches in Prince William County that conducts advocacy work and service to those in need. Name: Idris O'Connor State: Virginia Hometown: Dale City Hero's job: Idris works on homelessness issues. Relationship to nominee: Relative Reason for recognition: Idris is the youngest person to hold the Office of Chair for the Cooperative Council of Ministries. He is an advocate in Prince William County for individuals and families in need of services — housing, job placement, meals services and financial assistance. He assists wherever help is needed.
