HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of his wife last month, according to police. Derrick Miller, 57, of Pine Rock Avenue, was arrested Thursday at Meriden Superior Court and is being held in lieu of a $2 million bond, according to police Capt. Ronald Smith. Police responded to the area of Pine Rock Avenue and Arch Street on Dec. 16 on the report of a shooting. Darlene Brown died as the result of multiple gunshot wounds, according to Smith. She was found sitting in the driver's seat and Miller, her husband, was found lying on the ground near the passenger side of the vehicle. Miller had a gunshot wound to his torso and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment, Smith said. Miller was previously arrested in connection with the incident. He was arrested Dec. 29, after he was discharged from the hospital, and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal alteration of a firearm. Smith said at the time that police were continuing to investigate the shooting. To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.
