I-35 Lanes In Georgetown To Close For Tranmission Lines Work

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Northbound and southbound Interstate 35 lanes and frontage roads between Williams Drive and SH 130 in Georgetown will be intermittently closed over the next six weeks to enable work crews to install new transmission lines, transportation officials said Friday. The work is being overseen jointly by the Lower Colorado River Authority and the Texas Department of Transportation, according to an advisory. Beginning Sunday through Feb. 28, rolling closures will be in effect in both directions of the highway between the aforementioned roadways. Transportation officials said closures will take place Sunday through Thursday nights between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., with traffic stopped for approximately 15 minutes at a time. Road signs have been placed strategically around the work site to alert drivers of upcoming closures. "TxDOT asks the traveling public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone," state transportation officials wrote in their advisory.
