WATSONVILLE, CA — A man was arrested this week after breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home and pointing a handgun at her, their four-year-old son and her father, Watsonville police said. The arrest came after a nine-hour standoff, during which time police negotiated with Jessie Andrade, 30, while he barricaded himself in his ex's home in the 100 block of Ginos Court, police said. He broke into their home 1 a.m. Tuesday and the family was able to safely leave the home, then call police, police said. Police called on neighbors to shelter in place. A team of crisis negotiators and tactical operators was called in, along with personnel from the Santa Cruz Police Department Emergency Services Unit and Monterey Peninsula Regional Special Response Team. An armed vehicle was used to help evacuate residents of a home next to where Andrade was barricaded, police said. Andrade exited the home around 10:30 a.m. Thursday and was arrested by police. He faces charges including criminal threats, brandishing a gun, burglary, violating a domestic violence restraining order, and resisting or delaying arrest, police said.
