MAHWAH, NJ — A proposed financial transaction tax, which prompted the New York Stock Exchange to test an alternate data center and threaten a move out of their Mahwah site, has seemingly lost steam, Politico's Matt Friedman reports.
Friedman reported the development in his New Jersey Playbook newsletter, and the news was well-received by Rep. Josh Gottheimer.
"After we sounded the alarm on how much a potential financial transaction tax would cost our state, hopefully this idea is dead in the water," said Gottheimer. "This would have cost our local community significant revenue & hundreds of jobs at a time when we cannot afford it."
