WOONSOCKET, RI — Four Woonsocket organizations will receive a total of $24,550 in grants from the Rhode Island State Council On The Arts (RISCA) to continue operations in 2021. The grants are part of an effort to support arts and cultural activities statewide during the upcoming year. A total of $750,912 will be split into 120 grants and given to arts and culture organizations, arts education programs, teaching artists in healthcare, folk artists, and related community projects. The grants, which were awarded based on requests submitted in April 2020, are funded by the Rhode Island General Assembly, National Endowment for the Arts, and private contributions. "During these difficult times, it is critically important to support our arts and culture sector," said Randall Rosenbaum, executive director of RISCA, in a statement. "Typically, the arts contribute over $2 billion annually to the Rhode Island economy, and employ more than 17,500 people. These state investments will keep the arts sector working on behalf of all Rhode Islanders, for the cultural, educational and economic benefit of the entire state." The following Woonsocket organizations will receive RISCA grants: Neighborworks Blackstone River Valley for the Levitt AMP Woonsocket Music Series ($1,800)RiverzEdge Arts Project ($11,500)Seven Hills Rhode Island for the Integrated Performing and Visual Arts Program ($3,750)Stadium Theatre Foundation ($7,500)
