53 New Coronavirus Cases Confirmed Since Last Week In Deerfield

DEERFIELD, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Deerfield has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 1,524 people have contracted COVID-19 in Deerfield since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 53 cases since Patch's last report on Jan. 14. For further comparison, there was an increase of 64 cases between Jan. 7-14. The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 50,317 confirmed cases in Lake County. That's an increase of 1,490 cases since Jan. 14. For further comparison, there was an increase of 1,704 cases between Jan. 7-14. In addition, there have been 826 deaths, marking an increase of 23 since Jan. 14. For further comparison, there was an increase of 26 deaths between Jan. 7-14. The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 97.9 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 33,179 people have been tested across Deerfield (zip codes 60015) as of Thursday. That marks an increase of 2,419 tests since Jan. 14. For further comparison, there was an increase of 1,301 tests between Jan. 7-14. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 26 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Deerfield since April 6. The last death was on Jan. 9. Lake-McHenry COVID-19 Restrictions Due To Lack Of Empty Beds As of Thursday, there have been 91 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Deerfield, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,700confirmed coronavirus cases and 496 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. That marks an increase of 15 cases and 14 deaths since Jan. 14. For further comparison, there was an increase of 91 cases and 22 deaths between Jan. 7-14.
