Allegheny County Again Reports Double-Digit Coronavirus Deaths

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Wednesday reported 13 new coronavirus deaths, up nine from the four reported Thursday. The total since the outbreak began is 1,262. There were 343 new and confirmed probable coronavirus cases. The total number number during the outbreak is now 66,345. The 295 confirmed cases came from 1,564 tests - a positivity rate of 18 percent. There have been 3,886 hospitalizations during the outbreak. With 23,731 cases in Westmoreland County, 12,040 in Butler County, 11,771 in Washington County and 10,470 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cases to 124,357 when Allegheny County numbers are included. That's up from 123,687 from Thursday. According to the state Department of Health, there have been 2,601 deaths in the region from the virus: One thousand, two hundred and sixty-two in Allegheny County, 557 in Westmoreland County, 302 in Beaver County, 299 in Butler County and 181 in Washington County. That's up from 2,574 on Thursday.
