Description

When was the last time you experienced your architectural heritage? Join us for a guided tour of the Dana-Thomas House State Historic Site. In the heart of our country, progressive-minded heiress Susan Lawrence Dana hired architect Frank Lloyd Wright to design her a home in which she could advance ideas about education and democracy. The environment they created is one of the best-preserved examples of Wright’s “organic architecture,” containing more than 100 pieces of custom furniture and over 250 works of original art glass. We invite you to see and experience the Dana-Thomas House by taking a guided tour of the site. Please note photography, video, and other recording are only permitted on the exterior of the house. UPDATE: Due to current State of Illinois Coronavirus mitigations, all indoor spaces of the site are closed to the public effective Friday, November 20 until further notice. We are unable to offer guided tours or take reservations for in-person guided tours at this time. Questions and concerns may be directed to Site Superintendent Justin Blandford at 217-524-3971 or [email protected]. Parking A free parking lot for the Dana-Thomas House is located on Cook Street, behind the house and just west of the railroad tracks. The lot is directly across the street from 225 E. Cook. Photography Policy Photography, video and other recording are limited to the exterior of the house only; photography, video and other recording are NOT permitted inside the house.
