MENOMONEE FALLS, WI — The School District of Menomonee Falls' new needlepoint bipolar ionization air filtration technology is said to be able to remove the coronavirus, airborne mold and the flu virus from indoor air. CBS 58 reports the system will cover some 930,000 square-feet of schoolrooms, including the community center. The $600,000 system is afforded by carryover funds from from the 2019-2020 year-end surplus. According to the Global Plasma Solutions website, the needlepoint bipolar ionization technology produces positive and negative ions that attach to particles in the air, making them easier to filter out of air in the HVAC system. "When ions come in contact with pathogens, they disrupt the pathogens' surface proteins, rendering them inactive," the website states. The system is expected to be fully up and running in six to eight weeks, CBS 58 reports.
