Description
MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — Two crashes on I-43 have resulted in lane closures and delays Tuesday morning.
The first one happened in the Hale Interchange where I-41 and I-43 tie together just west of 92nd Street. At just before 6 a.m., Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash, involving a semi-truck, in the Hale Interchange.
Both vehicles were traveling from the north to the east in the Hale Interchange, the semi was in the center lane and the passenger vehicle was in the right lane.
Officials said the driver of a car lost control, crashed through the right guardrail and came to rest in the ditch about 100 feet off the roadway. The semi swerved to the right, causing it to tip on to its passenger's side, sliding about 200 feet, and colliding with the right guardrail and crushing the right barrier wall. Traffic was reduced to two lanes, due to the crash and debris.
At 9 a.m., deputies closed all of southbound I-894 /S I-41, diverting traffic off at Beloit Road in order to remove the semi's cargo, and get the truck off the highway. The semi was hauling rolls of paper.
Traffic is being diverted off I-894 southbound Tuesday morning at about 10:30 a.m. (WISDOT Traffic Cam Image) The most recent one happened in the southbound lanes of I-41/894 at just before 10 a.m. Southbound lanes are closed, and traffic is being diverted off the freeway.
Patch will have more on both of these incidents as information becomes available.
