Description
EVERETT, WA — Travel times between Seattle and Everett neared 70 minutes Friday afternoon, following a crash and fuel spill in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5. Washington State Patrol said 120 gallons of fuel was leaking after a semi-truck crashed into a guard rail north of the Everett Mall Way exit around 1 p.m.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, backups had reached Lynnwood by 2 p.m., and delays built into the afternoon. Crews finished cleaning up the fuel spill and removing the truck from the roadway just before 4 p.m. WSDOT said residual northbound delays continued between Lynnwood and Marysville.
Today's afternoon commute started a bit early around the region. Lots of blocking incidents are slowing us down. That includes this right lane closure on NB I-5 just north of SR 526. pic.twitter.com/7Ia5liNbks— WSDOT Traffic (@wsdot_traffic) December 13, 2019 This collision involving a fuel spill on northbound I-5 in #Everett is bumping up travel times. A couple other incidents aren't helping any. Give yourself extra time to travel through the area this afternoon. https://t.co/xllyprApRo pic.twitter.com/CMTW9T3AnJ— WSDOT Traffic (@wsdot_traffic) December 13, 2019
