Description
EDMONDS, WA — What started as a shoplifting ended with a woman being arrested while walking across State Route 99 in Edmonds.
According to police, an employee at a local store noticed a woman shoplifting early Wednesday morning, but when he tried to confront her, she pulled out a handgun on him and took off. The employee then called 911 and Edmonds Police started to search the area for the escaped woman.
Shortly afterwards, a student officer found her dodging through traffic and running across highway 99. She was arrested shortly afterwards. Police say they also found her weapon, and quickly determined it was a simple BB gun that just looked like a real firearm.
The suspect, only identified as a 40-year-old woman from Shoreline, has been arrested on armed robbery and drug charges.
