TEWKSBURY, MA — Have you spent much of the last year working from home, maybe while simultaneously directing your children's remote learning? No one would suggest that's been easy, but according to a new ranking from Money.com, it might have been easier in Tewksbury than almost anywhere else in the country.
The company ranked the top 10 American cities and towns to work from home from, and Tewksbury nabbed the final spot, ranking tenth.
Reston, Virginia came in first in the ranking.
The ranking took into account characteristics including cost of living, quality of life and access to high-speed internet. All the places on the list had to have at least 25,000 residents, at least 85 percent of their states' median income and a median home sale price below $615,000. In all 10, at least 98 percent of residents have adequate internet access at home to have multiple people working simultaneously. The full methodology is available here.
Tewksbury's median home price is $435,000, with over 80 percent of homes owner-occupied. Six in ten residents live within a 10-minute walk from a park, the ranking notes — good for work-life balance. Just three percent of residents worked from home before the pandemic, but Massachusetts is the state with the 2nd most people working from home because of the pandemic, after Maryland.
Do these findings fit with your experience of the pandemic? Why or why not?
