Description

Every year Edelman puts out its Annual Trust Barometer. It measures how much Americans trust various institutions and public positions. Edelman is a gigantic public relations and marketing consulting firm. For the first time in the history of this poll, less than half of Americans say they trust the media. That may not sound surprising to us conservatives who have been dealing with a dishonest media for a long time, but it's very telling that the rest of the nation is starting to catch up. Here are some of the key stats: 56% of Americans agree with the statement that Journalists and reporters are purposely trying to mislead people by saying things they know are false or gross exaggerations. 58% think that "most news organizations are more concerned with supporting an ideology or political position than with informing the public." When Edelman re-polled Americans after the election, the figures had deteriorated even further, with 57% of Democrats trusting the media and only 18% of Republicans.
