Description
As part of their continuing dedication to COVID-19 relief initiatives, POWER® a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is sponsoring iPlay® providing FREE instrument rental/donation and instruction to K-12 students throughout the United States with a strong emphasis in underserved and minority communities. An overwhelming response of nearly 200 student registrations were received for the twelve-week session scheduled to tentatively begin in February 2021 for piano (keyboard), drums, stringed guitar, violin, clarinet, flute and saxophone instruments. “This program is one of my favorite initiatives as it not only provides a distraction from COVID-19 interruptions within our school systems across America but provides introduction and instruction to an art that is steadily declining – music. iPlay® puts instruments in the hands of those underserved students throughout our country who might not ever have this opportunity simply based on their socio-economic status.”, said Chairman and CEO Penelope Lopez in her Call to Action for Music Instructor Volunteers. Instructors will provide anywhere between 2-4 hours a week of group instruction, virtually through Zoom, with the flexibility of creating their own syllabus and learning materials for students. Short and long-term goals are to create a sustainable love of music, increase memory recall skills, fine motor skills and “personal joy”. Those interested in extending their talents to teach these eager students should send an introductory email containing credentials in their instrument(s) to [email protected] no later than Sunday, January 31st, 2021. A quarterly $1,000 stipend will be paid to the instructors from external grant giving partners. To learn more about POWER CHANGES LIVES initiatives, please visit www.powerchangeslives.com
