Seek Hudson County Musicians for Spring/Summer Outdoor Event Band
Meets
Jersey City NJ
Description
With Covid, we all want to be safe and there is not much going out or gigging at the moment. Hoping that come Spring/Summer, outdoor dining etc. will bring demand for live music WAY up! That is what this music project is aimed towards- catching outdoor/gigs the band feels are "safe" this spring and summer. Project values: 1) We sound as good/tight as possible. Very important to me. 2) We play gigs. Would rather play a small gig than no gig at all. 3) We are creative musicians looking to monetize our skills/talents. This project is not about creating original art. 4) Pot split evenly after any gig reimbursements. 5) We take covid safety seriously in our gigs. 6) We communicate respectfully but also honestly. Will mostly be playing covers of songs, but I do not want to do carbon copies. Would like to always have it be "our take on the song". Set list will be determined by what musicians we have. Looking to play a pretty diverse range. Also please be open to discussing busking on weekends we are not gigging (maybe even weekends we are). With covid a lot of musicians have been busking. I have had some great experiences busking in hudson county this last year, and have made real $ doing it. Looking for: Bass Guitar Keys Horns Percussion Singer(s) Musicians should: Have their gear already Have played live music before Know their instrument well (do not have to be a pro, but I am not looking for beginners) All ages are welcomed. I am 24, but I am interested in musicians who can play. Age and gender are not important for this project. I do plan on playing bars though, so it will be tough if you are under 21. Therefore, please do not apply if you are under 18. If this is something you would be interested in please reach out with your name and instrument. Please also attach yourself playing the Bee Gee's "stayin alive", in the style you are most comfortable with. Just as a screen. May do some facetime screening in the event the multiple people respond for the same instrument. Once the musicians are decided on, I hope to lead a virtual group meeting to introduce us all and discuss set lists / practice times/locations / gigging goals. Probably practice once a week in a large industrial space where we will have enough room to spread out. Fall back location would be JC studios. Plan is to have a 20-60 min long set by mid-late April and then start looking for gigs are weather turns. Thanks!
