NORWALK, CT — Robert Zangrillo, a Norwalk native who is now a Miami-based developer, was among the scores of political, or otherwise influential, people pardoned by former President Donald Trump before he left office, reports The Hour. Zangrillo, whose family still owns property in Norwalk, had been one of the parents charged in the federal "Varsity Blues" college admissions scandal. He was accused of using a bribe to gain admission to the University of Southern California for his daughter. The Los Angeles Times reports that Trump's pardon of Zangrillo has caused outrage among prosecutors and others involved in the case. Zangrillo, who is related to Stephen Zangrillo who founded the Darien Sport Shop, denied the charges. Read The Hour story.
