AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation has released its weekly list of Interstate 35 lane closures in alerting drivers of potential traffic congestion. Savvy drivers utilize the list in planning their travel to ensure the most seamless paths in reaching various destinations. The latest lane closures are for the period between Dec. 19-25. I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LANE TO U.S. 290 EAST On Sunday, Dec. 20 through Tuesday, Dec. 22, the southbound I-35 main lanes between Braker Lane and U.S. 290 East will close each night at 9 p.m. The Braker Lane and Rundberg Lane entrance ramps and Rundberg Lane exit (#240) will also be closed. Southbound I-35 traffic will detour to the frontage road at the Rundberg Lane exit (#241) and reenter the main lanes at the next entrance ramp south of St. Johns Avenue. All lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Beginning at 11 p.m. on Sunday and Monday nights, Dec. 20-21, there will be rolling closures on the northbound I-35 main lanes between US 290 East and Rundberg Lane. The rolling closures will be short, with main lanes being reopened as work is completed. The US 290 East entrance ramp and northbound I-35 to northbound US 183 flyover will also be closed. Starting Monday, Dec. 21 at 11 p.m., the northbound I-35 mainlanes between US 290 East and US 183 will be reduced to three lanes, as crews realign the roadway for the future northbound intersection bypass lane. Once complete, this section of I-35 will include three northbound I-35 main lanes, a 2-lane intersection bypass lane, and a 10- to 12-foot shoulder. Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the upcoming closures. Transportaiton officials asks the traveling public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.
