AUSTIN, TX — Austin ISD will offer three days of district wide rapid testing of the coronavirus for all on-campus students and staff members prior to returning from a weeklong period of remote learning that began on Monday, officials said. In tandem, testing for the virus starting Wednesday will be offered as a further mitigating step, officials said. "Testing is strongly recommended for those that are showing COVID-19 symptoms, those that have had close contact with someone that is positive or showing symptoms for COVID-19, and those that recently traveled for the holidays," Austin ISD Director of Health Alexandra Copeland said in a letter to parents and guardians.
