NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday identified the man who died after being shot early Monday in North Austin. Officers reported to the 9200 block of East U.S. 290 just before 2 a.m. amid reports of a shooting, according to a police advisory. Officers responded to reports of a shooting at the location, where they found a mortally wounded Matthew Bocard, 31, who died at the scene after medics attempted life-saving measures. While at the scene, officers learned the shooting occurred in the 7000 block of Grand Canyon Drive. The area was secured and homicide detectives and crime scene personnel arrived to process evidence at both locations, according to the police account. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time and investigators are seeking witnesses, police said. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect, law enforcement officials said.
