AUSTIN, TX—If environmental activism is an activity you're passionate about, and you're inspired to create change in your community, The City of Austin's Youth Forest Council may be what you're looking for. Austin youth ages 16-19 are invited to learn more about the immersive, yearlong paid internship that connects young people with careers that support the environment and the communities where we live.
In partnership with Urban Forest Program professionals, Youth Forest Council plan community activities to grow their connection to Austin's natural spaces and earn up to $15 per hour. Members of Youth Forest Council experience opportunities to:
Plan community events and festivals Design educational materials to be shared with Austinites Represent the Urban Forest Program in their own neighborhoods and practice leadership through projects created to support their community Gain valuable, firsthand knowledge about green careers Take part in professional seminars discussing topics related to our urban forest Who are Youth Forest Council members? Participation in the Youth Forest Council is not based on academic requirements, and youth with varied interests including arts, community organizing, business, and more and encouraged to apply.
