CLEVELAND — A Michigan man has been accused of driving more than 1,000 THC vape cartridges into Ohio, the Department of Justice announced. Adrian Joseph-Todd, 25, has been charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute tetrahydrocannabinols (THC) on Thursday, Acting U.S. Attorney Bridget Brennan said. THC is commonly found in marijuana products. "There is a well-known and documented connection between the consumption of THC vape cartridges and significant respiratory health issues that could cause lasting harm or even death," Brennan said. "These products must be taken seriously, and dealers of these illegal cartridges must be held accountable due to the potentially life-threatening health conditions they may cause." On Sept. 20, 2019, Joseph-Todd drove from Michigan to Cleveland with more than 1,000 THC vape cartridges in his car, court documents said. Prosecutors said he intended to sell the cartridges in Ohio. The FDA led the investigation into Joseph-Todd. In late 2019, the FDA urged the public to stop using THC-based vaping products. The agency said more than 1,000 lung injuries had been reported, all involving the use of THC vaping products. The FDA specifically said the public should avoid using any THC cartridges obtained illicitly.
