VCU Commander Captain Jack Kennedy said in the days following the shooting, Battle was developed as a suspect and charged him Wednesday with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. He remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with a total bond of $90,000.
Patch previously reported when Tuscaloosa Police officers were called to a residence in the 3200 block of 37th Street at 8:03 p.m. Friday after a 19-year-old man said he had just been shot while sitting in his vehicle parked on Elm Street. Police say he suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Additionally, officers were notified around the same time that a gunshot victim had just arrived at DCH in a private vehicle. The 17-year-old victim told officers that he was standing on Elm Street beside the other victim's vehicle when three men approached, before one opened fire, striking both of them.
TPD said the 17-year-old's injuries were serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.
