As we age, our happiness can shift and it can be especially challenging to stay happy in the time of COVID-19. Watching the sunrise and sunset can help. These rituals can enhance your mood and help keep you centered. Each morning, I wake before sunrise. I light my candles, a stick of incense, and put on my coffee. Then I do a brief meditation and a 20 minute workout to keep my mind, body, and soul strong and resilient. This is my morning ritual. In the evening, I make it a point to watch the sunset, either from my living room window, which has a magnificent view, or from one of the many waterfront locations in Bay Shore. The Marina is one of my favorite spots. I also enjoy taking photographs of these moments. "A ritual is a ceremony or action performed in a customary way. As an adjective, ritual means "conforming to religious rites," which are the sacred, customary ways of celebrating a religion or culture. Different communities have different ritual practices, meditation in Buddhism, or baptism in Christianity."  Do you have any rituals that help you stay happy during COVID-19? If not, try to start one. It can make such a difference in your well-being. For more tips and other information, please subscribe to my YouTube Channel, Skylark Live, where each first-Monday-of-the-month, I post an episode of my Vlog, 60 and Beyond with Skylark. This is where you can listen to me speak about how to thrive in older age, and beyond. Thank you and stay well, sunrise to sunset. Love Skylark
