Looking for a Dog

I’m currently looking for a dog for my friend, Elkhorn John. John is a retired gardener living in the two room cabin his grandfather built 150 years ago in the ghost town of Elkhorn, which can be accessed from Boulder. Earlier this winter his older shelter dog passed away. He doesn’t get much company up in the mountains this time of year and a new dog would bring him so much joy. John is a pillar of kindness in the community; during tourist season he teaches visitors all he knows about rock hunting and gives the kids free crystals. John is seeking an older dog that meets the following conditions: - will not wander off - will not bother his indoor house cat - has basic house manners, as it will sleep indoors - is kid friendly, as many of the tourists that pass through Elkhorn have kids John is on a tight budget, as he has been living in Elkhorn full time for the last 20 years. I am a college student based in Helena, so I am also on a budget but I would be willing to pay what I can for the right dog. I would be very grateful if someone in the community could help me bring some happiness to this kind mountain man.
