Description

CANDIA, NH - Candia fire, police, and NH State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in the median on Rte 101 near exit 3 at around 4:20 am Thursday. When they arrived to the scene the alleged driver of the vehicle fled from the scene on foot into the woods. A search for the person did not locate the person. A homeowner from Patten Hill Rd in Candia called police around 9:15 am to report a person had broken into their house. According to the radio broadcast, the person who broke in the house said he was in an accident and was looking for help. He then fled on foot into the woods. The suspect was quickly identified by police as a man wanted on a felony warrant from Hudson, MA and the homeowner was able to confirm the identity of the suspect from a photo provided by police. Officers from Candia, Auburn, Raymond, Rockingham County Sherriff, NH State Police and NH Fish and Game searched the wooded area. A K9 and an Officer from Auburn searched and tracked for more than an hour in heavily wooded areas surrounding wetlands. NH State Trooper Stefan Wagner and his K9 Tito joined the search and continued to track several miles from where the residence was located on Patten Hill Rd. Around noon K9 Tito located the suspect in a wooded area off Depot Rd, near the Rte 101 overpass. The uncooperative suspect was handcuffed and removed by several officers from the wooded area. The suspect who had cuts, and appeared to be wet was brought to a Candia Cruiser and a Raymond Ambulance responded to evaluate. The suspect remained uncooperative with police, and EMS personnel and refused to receive medical care. The man was brought from the scene by Candia Police to Exeter Hospital and will then be transferred to Rockingham County Jail. The suspect faces several charges in New Hampshire and will also be extradited to Hudson, MA for the warrant. As additional information becomes available the post will be updated. ©Jeffrey Hastings www.frameofmindphoto.com/news
