Description
PROVIDENCE, RI — After months of relative stability and slow increases, Rhode Island's gas prices are on the rise. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas went up eight cents from last week, bringing the average price to $2.34 per gallon.
A month ago, the average price of gas was 19 cents lower at $2.15. This time last year, the average price was 24 cents cheaper.
Despite the increase, Rhode Island's average price is still four cents lower than the current national average.
"These rising prices were expected as supply tightens and crude oil gets more expensive," said Lloyd Albert, a spokesperson for AAA Northeast.
Massachusetts's current average gas price is the same as Rhode Island's, while Connecticut is 10 cents higher.
