Gunshots Fired Into Montco Democratic Committee's Office

NORRISTOWN, PA — Gunshots were fired through the front window of the Montgomery County Democratic Committee's offices in Norristown on Wednesday, the party's chairman said. The incident occurred at 21 E. Airy Street at some point after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night to 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. It was discovered by an employee checking mail at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. No one was inside at the time and no injuries were reported. Joe Foster, the chair of the county's Democratic Party, said that the office received an emailed death threat last week from an individual "alluding to a stolen election." The FBI, Montgomery County Detectives, and Norristown Police are jointly investigating the incident. The shooting was discovered in the afternoon when the organization's executive director stopped by to pick up the mail. The incident came on the day of the inauguration of President Joe Biden in Washington, D.C., and following weeks of online threats of violence after the riots at the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6. "While today was a good day for the nation and the rule of law, I regret to inform you that also today someone shot three bullets into the office of MCDC through the front window," Foster said in a statement.
