WEST VILLAGE, NY — Police are asking the public's help to identify a store employee who stabbed a shopper in the West Village after getting in a fight about a credit card being overcharged. The altercation took place on Jan. 5 around 5:30 p.m. inside a grocery store at 200 West 14th Street, according to police. A 34-year-old man was making a purchase at the store when he got in an argument with the employee about the amount charged to his credit card, police said. According to the police, the employee lost his temper and began swinging a black knife at the shopper, slashing the 34-year-old once in his lower back. The man was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition, police said. Police released a photo Wednesday of the man wanted in connection to the incident.
