Press release from the City of Berkeley: January 19, 2021 Press Contact: Byron White, Berkeley Police Department, (510) 981-5780 Berkeley, California (Tuesday, January 19, 2021) - On January 14th at 10:22 pm, officers were patrolling the area of San Pablo Avenue and Cedar Street when they spotted a vehicle with expired registration. When officers stopped the vehicle and contacted the occupants, they learned that one of the vehicle's three occupants had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. When officers had the occupants step out of the vehicle, they were surprised to see a big bag of marijuana (about 1 pound worth) sitting on the back seat. By the time officers had concluded their search, they found a total of 4.87 lbs. of marijuana, 2.33 grams of oxycodone, packaging materials, 3 loaded handguns and over $2100 cash. All three men were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale, carrying a loaded/concealed firearms as well as several other offenses.
