Press release from the City of Berkeley: January 19, 2021 Press Contact: Byron White, Berkeley Police Department, (510) 981-5780 Berkeley, California (Tuesday, January 19, 2021) - On January 9th at 12:20 am, an officer was patrolling the area of Kittredge Street and Fulton Street when they observed a vehicle fail to come to complete stops at multiple signal lights. When the officer stopped the vehicle and contacted its driver and passenger, the officer spotted a bottle of alcohol in the center cup holder and also learned that the driver was unlicensed. When officers searched the vehicle, they also discovered a loaded handgun in the backseat. The driver (a 30-year-old Berkeley man) and passenger (a 33-year-old Sacramento man) were arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded/concealed firearm. The passenger was also arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a handgun. Case 2021-00001051 This press release was produced by the City of Berkeley.
