Description

Come learn about what it takes to persuade the younger generation of the truth of Christianity in today's cultural and political climate. In today’s political climate, there seems to be an increasing divide between older and younger generations. Especially on issues of faith and public morality, different generations seem, at times, to be speaking different languages. Moreover, the rise of the religious “nones,” the constant background noise of digital media, and the postmodern relativistic mindset of our culture further complicate intergenerational dialogue. As distinctly Christian voices are pushed further outside the realm of acceptable public speech through both the hard-power of law and the soft-power of culture, it has become more difficult to talk about sensitive issues. How can the theological riches of the Reformed tradition help guide those who hope to persuade the younger generation of the truth of the Christian message and way of life in such a climate? Peter Lillback (President, Westminster Theological Seminary), Scott Redd (President, Reformed Theological Seminary, DC), Rob Pacienza (Lead Pastor, Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church), Harry Reeder (Lead Pastor, Briarwood Presbyterian Church), and John Stonestreet (President, The Colson Center) will help answer this question and more at this year's "Faith in the Public Square: Persuading the Next Generation" event on March 13th. Lunch will be provided for the first 100 people to register.   FAQs What precautions will be in place for COVID? The sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church seats 1300 comfortably, allowing for plenty of room for social distancing. Attendees will be required to wear masks as they enter the building due to congestion in the Narthex, but once attendees take their seats, they may remove their masks at their discretion. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No. You will be able to check in by name. What time can I arrive? Doors will open at 8:30am. The conference will begin at 9:00am. Do I need to register in advance? Registering in advance allows us to provide you with lunch. While walk-in registrations will be permitted, only the first 100 registered attendees will be provided with lunch.
