WEYMOUTH, MA — Weymouth police and the Animal Rescue League of Boston removed 31 Chihuahua-type dogs from a Forest Street home on Monday, Jan. 11 due to unsanitary conditions. Police executed a search warrant at the home after receiving reports of overcrowding. The dogs were removed with the help of the Animal Rescue League and animal control officers from Scituate, Braintree, and Cohasset. The Animal Rescue League took 21 dogs to their Dedham Animal Care and Adoption Center and 10 were taken to Scituate Animal Shelter. One dog was taken to a local animal hospital for emergency care and several of the dogs were diagnosed with heart murmurs and dental disease. Most of the dogs will be available for adoption later this week, said the Animal Rescue League.
