Description
SALEM, MA — A 300-year-old cemetery in Salem may be due for further expansion, and city officials are looking for the public's help in developing a master plan for that and other improvements.
The 55-acre Greenlawn Cemetery was first used in 1807 and enlarged in the mid-1800s. The cemetery was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places as a Level 1 Arboretum.
It is the first publicly owned cemetery in Massachusetts to earn this designation.
The city's efforts to preserve this public space can be found here.
Salem is looking to "protect and enhance the character and quality of Greenlawn's historic landscape."
Any questions about the public forum or the project can be addressed to Salem Cemetary Superintendent Bob LeBlanc [email protected].
The meeting will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. here with a Meeting ID # 81084864274 and a Passcode of # 225213.
