Celebrate National African American Parent Involvement Day Feb. 8, 2021! Pick up a free family dinner & activity bag, then relax together! Pick up free dinners and an activity kit to make it easy for your family to celebrate National African American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID) in the comfort of your own home this year! By completing this registration, on Feb. 8, your family will be provided with an activity bag and free dinners consisting of a meat, vegetable and potatoes for each person on your ticket to encourage an evening of togetherness. All you will need to do is pick everything up from Memorial Baptist Church at your convenience between 5-7 p.m. Central time on Feb. 8. National African American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID) launched in 1995 after an Evansville, IN native, Joseph Dulin, was inspired by the Million Man March. “Daddy Dulin,” who became a celebrated educator and activist before his 2014 death, returned from the march intent on focusing parents on the goals of NAAPID, which include: Parent involvement in your child's education.Addressing serious challenges facing African American students.Promoting and providing strategies for all parents and students to take full advantage of the educational process at all levels of the educational system (preschool through college).Identify and develop partnership efforts between all sectors of the community (business, school, home etc.)Establish an annual event on the second Monday in February to provide continued focus on these goals across the country.
