Fire Breaks Out In Basement Of Greenwich Home: Firefighters

GREENWICH, CT — Firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out in the basement of a Greenwich home Saturday evening. In post on the Greenwich Professional Firefighters' Facebook page, fire officials said crews responded to a home on St Roch Avenue around 7 p.m. after receiving a report of smoke coming from the house. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.) The fire broke out in the home's basement and had extended to the first floor when crews arrived, officials said. Firefighters used two hose lines to extinguish the fire in about 15 minutes, officials said. Crews searched the building for occupants but found none, officials said. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said. Assistance was provided by Greenwich Emergency Medical Services and Greenwich police.
