WHEATON, IL — A Walgreens in Wheaton was robbed by a man wielding a hatchet Saturday, according to police. The incident took place just before 9 p.m. at the Walgreens located at 1601 N. Main St. Police say the man came into the store holding a hatchet and demanded money from an employee. The man then reached around the counter and stole an unknown amount of cash from a register. He then fled on foot, heading eastbound on Parkway Drive. The suspect was described as a white man, standing around 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a light-colored jacked with a camouflage hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, a black face mask, blue jeans, red Converse shoes and black gloves. via Wheaton Police DepartmentThis marks the second armed robbery in Wheaton in less than a week. On Wednesday, the CVS at 1400 E. Roosevelt Rd. was robbed at knifepoint. Anyone with information is urged to call Wheaton Police Department Detective Sergeant Lou Prempas at 630-260-2075.
