Description

Rhode Island is once again one of the worst states to drive in, according to the latest report from WalletHub. For the third year in a row, the Ocean State ranked in the bottom five. To determine the ranking, the personal finance website compared all 50 states across 31 metrics such as average gas prices and road quality. This year, Rhode Island ranked 45th overall. This is a slight improvement from last year, when the state ranked second-to-last, behind only Hawaii. In 2019, Rhode Island again ranked at 45 out of 50. Texas was ranked first in the country, followed by Indiana and North Carolina. Source: WalletHubDespite the low ranking, Rhode Island was named first in the country when it came to safety. This partners well with another recent study by AutoInsurance.org that ranked Rhode Island drivers the fourth-best in the country. Traffic, cost of ownership and access to vehicles and maintenance were key factors in the low overall WalletHub score. Here's a look at how Rhode Island ranked in each of these main categories.
