JOHNSTON, RI — A Johnston church has partnered with the Rhode Island National Guard to fight against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic by becoming a rapid test site. Iglesia Pentecostes on Plainfield St. offers free BinaxNOW tests to state residents with no appointment needed. The testing site is open from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturdays and tests approximately 150 people each week. The rapid testing process takes less than five minutes, with people going inside to register and get swabbed one at a time and exiting through a different door. Test results are texted to people within an hour of being swabbed. The Rhode Island National Guard is encouraging those who have facilities in populated areas of the state to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic by hosting rapid test sites. Anyone who is interested can reach out to the National Guard directly.
