LA GRANGE, IL — Lyons Township High School is resuming in-person clubs, activities and sports, the school announced Tuesday.
This action is in response to Gov. J.B. Pritzker's order on Monday loosening pandemic restrictions in suburban Cook County.
The resumption of sports and activities will include appropriate health and safety precautions, LTHS said. The maximum group size for a meeting or event is 25 people (staff and students) within a single space, the school said.
Low-risk sports can start practicing immediately, while high-risk sports can begin team training with no physical contact, according to an LTHS news release.
Low-risk winter sports include badminton, boys swimming and driving, cheerleading, dance, boys and girls bowling and girls gymnastics, according to the Illinois High School Association.
In addition, boys and girls basketball is the only high-risk winter sports allowed, officials said.
Coaches and sponsors plan to communicate with students and families soon about details, instructions and schedules, the school said.
