ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a liquor store burglary, a stolen semitrailer at McMaster-Carr, a domestic disturbance, a suspect fleeing an officer, a theft at Elmhurst University and DUIs. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Liquor store burglary Elmhurst Food & Liquor, 416 N. York St., was burglarized at 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Responding to a burglar alarm, police found a broken glass door. A keyholder responded and reviewed camera footage, which showed three black men breaking into the business to take cigarettes, liquor bottles, lottery tickets and money from the cash register. The first suspect was described as 5 feet, 11 inches, wearing a gray hoodie, black sweat pants and black shoes. The second one was 6 feet and wearing a black Champion hoodie, black sweat pants and white gym shoes. The third was 5 feet, 5 inches and wearing a black hoodie, black sweat pants with a yellow line down the side and black gym shoes. Semitrailer stolen A 53-foot semitrailer was stolen overnight Jan. 11. It was docked behind McMaster-Carr, 600 N. County Line Road. McMaster-Carr is one of Elmhurst's biggest employers. Domestic Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 5 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Sunnyside Avenue. A woman told police that another person threw a plastic fence cap at her during an argument. The suspect and a witness both said the argument did not get physical. An investigation is pending. Suspect fleeing officer An officer tried to stop a car about 1:30 p.m. Friday near North and Myrtle avenues after learning the license plate on the car was reported stolen. The suspect's car sped away, last seen heading east on North Avenue. Bus damage Someone cut a catalytic converter from a bus between Jan. 2 and Jan. 4 at Lexington Square, 400 W. Butterfield Road. Theft at college A person's jacket and wallet, including identifications and a debit card, were stolen shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday at Elmhurst University, 190 E. Prospect Ave. The debit card was later used in Willowbrook. DUIs Yazmin Rojas-Rios, 20, of Woodridge, was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday at North and Shady on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. She was released on bond. David Galvez-Romero, 28, of Berwyn, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of East Lake Street on charges of DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and leaving the scene of an accident. He was released on bond. Fabian Duenas, 29, of Streamwood, was cited shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday at First and York on charges of DUI, expired registration, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on bond. Carlos Fuentes Rocha, 36, of Aurora, was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of East Butterfield on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond. Driving violations Martin Taevion, 18, of Streamwood, was cited about 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles and Poplar on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle. He was released on bond. Timothy J. Kenny, 45, of Villa Park, was cited about 8 p.m. Thursday at Kenmore and St. Charles on a charge of driving with a suspended license. He was released on bond. Jair Gonzales-Medel, 30, of Bellwood, was cited shortly after 3 a.m. Friday in the 200 block of North Indiana on charges of no valid driver's license and failure to report an accident. He was released on bond. According to a police report, Gonzales-Medel's car struck a light pole. He left, but was later found. Julio Gonzales-Guillen, 24, of Norridge, was cited about 8:30 p.m. Friday at Grand and Crown on charges of possession of open marijuana in a motor vehicle and one headlight. He was released on bond. Javier Esquivel, 34, of Chicago, was cited about 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of South York Street on a charge of failure to leave information after striking an unattended vehicle. He was released on bond. Darquise T. Hemphill, 30, of Woodridge, was cited about 10 p.m. Saturday at Route 83 and North on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. She was released on bond. Eleasin Secundino Brigido, 18, of Chicago, was cited at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at North and Oaklawn on a charge of no valid driver's license. He was released on bond. Suprena Cannon, 29, of Chicago, was cited at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at York and Lake on charges of driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released on bond. Jada Marshall, 24, of Vernon Hills, was cited about 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Poplar and May on charges of driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana by a driver and speeding. She was released on bond. Alexis Munoz, 18, of Melrose Park, was cited about 11 p.m. Sunday at Lake and Interstate 290 on charges of driving with a suspended license, speeding and tinted windows. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
