Cosmic Doom Band Looking for Vocalist
Meets

Description
About us: We’re currently a 3 piece and have tossed around the idea of adding a dedicated vocalist. Currently our bassist does some vocals but he wants to mainly do backup harmonies as he’s a baritone and we’re looking for someone that can really punch through and wail a bit over our sound with some distortion vocals. We play tuned down to Bb standard so the sound turns out to be pretty damn heavy. Bassist and guitarist are writing the lyrics currently but aren’t opposed to help with that as long as you can dig the vibe we’re going for. Common themes thus far include the psychedelic mind, destruction of humanity, lost civilizations and exploration of other dimensions. Our influences and similar sounding bands: Sleep, Electric Wizard, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Kyuss, Pentagram, Yob, Windhand, Acid King, Hawkwind, Conan and many more. What we’re looking for: Skillset wise we’re wanting a tenor or high baritone that can sing with distortion/grit in their voice. Think grunge (Layne Staley, Chris Cornell) but in a heavier context like the references below. As an individual, we want someone that is reliable and a solid stylistic fit with us on a musical level and has a good attitude. Take your role in the band seriously but not too seriously - Ultimately we do this for fun. No divas please, we’re a chill bunch. If you have previous vocal training and/or know enough theory to assist with harmonies that helps. Our ages range from mid twenties-mid thirties so someone around there would be ideal unless your skillset blows us away. References for vocal styles: - Sleep - Dopesmoker - Warhorse - Black Acid Prophecy - Anything by Cough, Conan, High on Fire, Ufomammut, Please be aware that we play LOUD. We have 4 amps/speakers that we use between both guitarists so know that’s just the kind of band we are. We have a PA setup with 2 speakers that can compete, but it takes some getting used to. Expect to perform with earplugs if you know what’s good for you! We also have a makeshift recording setup so we can get some relatively high-quality recordings. We have 4 songs fully recorded that just need vocals before we can call it a finished LP. If this sounds like it could be up your alley, hit me up (ideally with references/recordings) and I can send you some partially mixed recordings so you can get an idea of what we really sound like. From there we can discuss next steps, as I know things are tricky with Covid. Might be easiest to have you roughly record over them and send them back to us if you have that capability, but we aren’t opposed to a live audition type thing either. Shoot me an email above and let's talk!
