NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents between Jan. 8 and Jan. 14.* January 8 A resident contacted police to report a forgery involving mailed checks. The investigation remains ongoing. January 11 A man entered the TD Bank branch on Upper Silver Lake Road and attempted to cash a fraudulent check. By the time police arrived, the man was no longer at the bank. The investigation remains ongoing. January 12 A resident contacted police after they received an unemployment debit card in the mail from the state of Ohio. The resident reported the fraud to the Federal Trade Commission and to Ohio's unemployment department. Police responded to Dogs & Cats Rule on West Road for a reported scam theft, with the total value of loss at $19. The investigation is ongoing. January 13 The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail on Stoopville Road in Newtown Township. Eleven trucks were stopped and inspected and 12 violations were found. Three truckers were placed out of service and 10 warnings and two citations were issued. January 14 A resident reported a suspicious man to police who was seen outside their home on Diamond Drive. Police learned the man was wanted on an active arrest warrant out of Newtown Township for harassment and an active warrant out of New York. At 9:30 p.m., a driver who pulled over for a traffic stop was identified as a wanted person with an active arrest warrant out of Tullytown Borough. *Three DUI arrests were made during this time period.
