DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — The Douglas County Sheriff's Office suggests residents be more proactive in protecting their personal belongings outdoors. The office recommended people "lock your car doors or remove your valuables at night."
"Removing them is preferred because that removes them from the equation," the office noted on Facebook.
Some advice the office shared includes:
Do not leave your guns in your car overnight.Do not leave your debit cards, credit cards, social security cards and driver's licenses in your locked or unlocked car. Do not leave your car doors unlocked.Do not leave your keys in your car.
