I had to put down my beloved grady, an 11 year old akita mix on new year's eve. he would not want me to be sad forever, so I am writing this post to start a journey to find another akita or akita mix to love (and visa versa, of course). I live on 20 plus acres in the sierra foothills, hike daily with my dog, am retired and take my dog with me everywhere. I would prefer a puppy or a younger dog, in order to have many years together. grady was my fourth akita cross, and also had a full bred akita at one time, thus familiar with the breed. one dog at a time is how I roll, creating a strong and trusting bond.
