Description
The NAF2 2021 Annual Winter Planning Retreat theme is “Beantown Sprouts! Boston Local Food & Urban Agriculture Leadership Lessons”. The intention of our event this year is to highlight and learn from the best practices and innovations that folks in the City of Boston have exhibited over multiple generations in urban agriculture, particularly from communities of color (see “Boston’s often overlooked long history of urban farming” by Julie Pattison-Gordon, Bay State Banner May 3, 2017). We also intend to better understand the public policy achievements and ongoing work in metropolitan Boston as well as the greater New England region that compliment and support successful local food system development and planning. NAF2 seeks to incorporate these benchmark achievements and lessons into the toolkit of resources offered to our clients and Strategic Partnerships as we continue expanding throughout North America. Goals of the 2021 retreat include: Celebrate our growth and successes in 2020, as well as reflect on challenges and setbacks Establishing a core executive leadership team among company officers based in BostonRelocating NAF2’s corporate headquarters to Boston MA from Atlanta GASelect a set of Strategic Goals for our firm to focus on during the 2021 business year Company OverviewNorth America Food & Farm PBC Inc (NAF2) is a Boston Massachusetts based umbrella Public Benefit Corporation designed to support replication of the “Food & Farm” business model through establishment of “Affiliates” or lightly connected subsidiaries in multiple cities across the continent as well as all United States territories. The prototype Affiliate Atlanta Food & Farm PBC (AF2GA) was launched in 2011 as a social enterprise consulting group specializing in local food systems planning and urban agriculture project development in the 10-county Atlanta metropolitan area. Its success is measured by both a favorable response from the marketplace and a significant positive social impact, as it relates to food security and local economic development. The vision of NAF2 is to collaborate with mission aligned businesses, communities, local governments, and organizations to build local food based economies and increased food security through urban agriculture.
