Dan Electro"s Monday Singer, Songwriter Showcase Presents: Jes Music Jes Music is a singer/songwriter, guitarist, and producer from Houston, Texas. With songs that resonate from the soul, Jes shares his passion, love, and desire for music through his well-written tunes. At an early age Jes knew that music fulfilled his heart more so than the average. He always enjoyed the diversity in each artist sound. His early influences range from Green Day to the Goo Goo Dolls and of course guitar legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Carlos Santana. After watching his friends play in the school band at Oaks Christian in California, Jes decided to use his birthday money and purchase his first guitar at age 11. After moving back to Texas that year, he decided to join his middle school chapel band. At this same time Jes began excelling in athletics, especially golf. After making his high school golf team, his focus became directed towards the sport and eventually lead to Jes walking on to the University of Houston’s golf team. After a year and a half Jes was released from the team and immediately formed his first band with his college roommate under the name Jester’s Reign and later Kid Colt Outlaw. After about a year the band split up and the Jes Music project began to form. In 2012 Jes wrote his first solo song, Alabama Running. “That’s the song that really changed everything, it was a completely new direction of music and style for me” says Jes. But from there Jes Music struggled to find his way bouncing around, emerging himself here and there, but Jes felt like he had very little support eventually moving from town to town trying to find his footing. It wasn’t until 2017 when Jes met Houston local Hank Lamb that his music career would begin to take off. “Hank offered me a position to be his co-host with ElectroLuv (KPFT). They have a weekly radio show and throw a yearly festival. Hank got my feet in the door and put me in direct touch with all sorts of people in the music industry. One of my yearly goals that year was to play a festival. When Hank found out I was a singer/songwriter he offered to let me play not one night but both nights of ElectroLuv Festival. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about what that meant to me.” From there Jes used his platform and partnership with Hank to further himself in the music scene eventually starting two projects; Jes & Friends which was a classic rock cover band, and Electric Van an original jam band. Opening for bands such as Deep Sequence, Josh Pearson, Roadside Glorious, and many more. In 2019 Jes began to focus on his solo career and began recording songs at Stormy Cooper Media with producer Lyndon Hughes. Although the following year (2020) was an odd one, Jes Music still made his moves forming an artistic foundation with friends from the industry. Jes plans to release more music in 2021 and soon play in a city near you!
