LITTLETON, CO — A firefighter rescued a dog Friday after it fell through the ice into a Littleton pond.
South Metro Fire Rescue was called to Sterne Park after the dog had run out onto the ice and fallen through into frigid water.
"This adventurous pup was tired and trapped," the rescue group said in a tweet.
"People on shore did the right thing by staying off the ice and calling 911. A Firefighter quickly and safely provided a little help and thankfully the dog was ok."

Fire officials are reminding pet owners that it's never safe to go out on ice if their dog has fallen through. If the ice isn't solid enough to hold a dog, then it's definitely not safe for a human, officials said.
Firefighters across Denver's metro area are trained to rescue pets that have fallen into icy water.
